The story behind the book
In the summer of 2016 I was stuck in a period of waiting. At first I was impatient and angry to have nothing to do and feeling so lost and uncertain. But then I decided to use my unexpected time off well, so I sat down and wrote. Ideas kept coming and words kept flowing.
About two years ago a dear friend of mine put a fly in my ear. She kept telling me how much she enjoyed reading my blog. She said I should translate some work into German, so that more people could read it.
That my words mattered.
That I should put them in a book.
I hesitated.
Were my words good enough?
Am I really a writer? Would anyone like to read what I had to say and even pay for it?
But I thought I would try and so I talked to publishing houses.
For the first time I dared to believe in my words.
I dared to dream.
Now this dream has become a reality.
Fliege ins Leben , lande bei Gott. 52 Zwischenstopps einer Alltagsreisenden will release in September 2017 and I couldn’t be happier.
It is a guide throughout the year with texts to make you think about God, yourself and the world. The Lord’s presence and gifts are everywhere if we train our eyes and hearts to see them. This might mean to practice new routines or to embrace doubt, but it will definitely be rewarding.
I hope these words will bless you on your faith journey and lead you to many new encounters and discoveries. This book is written for YOU – with lots of space in between for questions, practical prompts and thoughts about your journey.
As you can read from the title, it will be in German – sorry for my English speaking friends! – but for my German readers I am excited to offer my writing in my first language.
So far the publishing house and editors have been really great to work with and the more we work on it, the more excited I become.
Birthing a book into this world is quite some work, but a rather elating
and fulfilling one I must say.

Im Sommer 2016 hatte ich eine lange Wartzeit. Zuerst war ich ungeduldig und ärgerlich, weil ich nichts dagegen tun konnte. Ich fühlte mich einfach unsicher und verloren. Aber dann beschloss ich, diese unerwartete Auszeit zu nutzen und begann zu schreiben. Ideen und Worte flossen nur so dahin.
Vor zwei Jahren hatte eine gute Freundin eine zündende Idee. Sie las gerne meinen Blog und meinte, ich solle doch ein paar Texte auf deutsch übersetzen, damit noch mehr Leute sie lesen könnten. Sie sagte, dass meine Worte wichtig sind. Dass ich ein Buch schreiben sollte.
Ich zögerte.
Waren meine Worte gut genug?
Bin ich wirklich eine Schriftstellerin?
Würden Menschen meine Worte lesen und dafür bezahlen?
Dennoch begann ich, mit Verlagen zu zu sprechen. Zum ersten Mal vertraute ich meinen Worten und erlaubte mir, zu träumen.
Jetzt ist dieser Traum wahr geworden.
Fliege ins Leben , lande bei Gott. 52 Zwischenstopps einer Alltagsreisenden erscheint im September 2017!
Es soll ein Begleiter durchs Jahr sein und dich zum Nachdenken über Gott, dich selbst und die Welt bringen. Gottes Gegenwart ist überall, wenn wir unsere Augen und Herzen dafür aufmachen. Vielleicht müssen wir neue Rituale einüben oder Zweifel zulassen, aber es lohnt sich.
Ich hoffe, dass diese Worte dich auf deiner Glaubensreise begleiten und zu vielen neuen Begegnungen führen. Dieses Buch ist für DICH – mit viel Platz für Fragen, Anregungen und “Mitbringsel” von deiner Reise.
Die Arbeit mit dem Verlag ist sehr spannend und je mehr wir daran arbeiten, desto aufgeregter werde ich. Ein Buch zu veröffentlichen ist schon ein ganzes Stück Arbeit, wenn auch eine begeisternde und erfüllende.
