A weekend apart from civilization/Ein Wochenende jenseits der Zivilisation

I know it’s been a while since my last post. One excuse could be that school work has finally kicked in, and I was very busy studying for exams, test, quizzes…Very unsual for me, as German university only gets busy in the last month of the semester. So far I can be very satisfied about my results!
Another reason might be that I realized how fast time flies and how little there is left to travel and see something. Som opportunities have to be taken when they come up, that’s why I traveled quite a bit the last two weekends, seeing different cities and the beautiful countryside. Tonight I just came back from a weekend away in the woods, in a cabin, away from books, campus, cell phone coverage and the noisy world. It was just a group of people, a hottub, nice food and hiking trips into the landscape of North Carolina and Virginia…

Mein letzter Post ist schon ne Weile her. Ein Grund dafür könnte sein, dass die Uni mich auf Trab hält mit Klausuren und Tests, für die ich lernen musste. Eigentlich sehr ungewöhnlich, da die deutsche Uni erst im letzten Semestermonat so richtig stressig wird. Aber bis jetzt kann ich sehr zufrieden mit den Ergebnissen sein!
Ein anderer Grund ist aber, dass mir bewusst geworden ist, wie schnell die Zeit doch vergeht und damit auch weniger Zeit zu reisen und etwas zu sehen. Gelegenheiten müssen also genutzt werden, deswegen war ich am Wochenende oft unterwegs in Städten und der wunderschönen Natur. Gerade heute Abend bin ich von einem Wochenende im Wald wiedergekommen, in einer Hütte weit weg von Unibüchern, dem Campus, Handyempfang und der lauten Welt. Einfach eine Gruppe Leute, ein Whirlpool, gutes Essen und Wandern in der Umgebung in North Carolina und Virginia…

As it was raining all day, we were covered in water form head to toe! Das es den ganzen Tag geregnet hat, waren wir von Kopf bis Fuß nass!
